Born on the 2nd of April 1969 in Delhi, Ajay Devgan, son of renowned action director Veeru Devgan, is one of the finest actors in Bollywood today.
Ajay made a dashing entry in Bollywood with ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ as an action hero, and soon earned a title of being the new ‘angry young man’.
His entry scene in ‘Phool Aur Kaante’, where he stood on two motorcycles, became a huge rage with the college youth with them even wanting to try out Ajay’s famous stunt which shot him into the limelight overnight.
His films that followed – ‘Jigar’, ‘Haqeekat’ and ‘Diljale’ made him a familiar name in Bollywood, keeping his ‘action hero’ image intact.
But it was ‘Ishq’ (1997) which gave Ajay a platform to showcase his ‘comic’ talent for the first time. He was paired opposite Kajol and the film became a huge hit.
Then followed ‘Major Saab’ and ‘Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha’, both romantic films with the latter being a romantic comedy!
The actor who was once known only for his ‘daring stunts’ and ‘witty roles’ soon tried his hands at romantic roles and was successful there, too.
After all, who can ever forget his earnest portrayal of a husband, who agrees to let his wife go to the man she really loves in Sanjay Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil Chuke Sanam’? In spite of Salman and Aishwarya’s presence, Ajay was highly noticed for his sincere performance and thus got included in the league of the finest actors of the industry.
After a considerable while, it was ‘Company’, ‘Deewangee’, ‘Bhoot’, and ‘Khakee’ which earned him the recognition of being a ‘versatile’ actor. Ajay’s character in these films had shades of grey and he rendered his ‘villainous’ roles with equal ease.
Ajay also tried his hand at productions with ‘Raju Chacha’ (2000) but unfortunately the movie didn’t do well at the box-office.
On the personal front, this two time national award winner got married to Kajol in 1999 following five years of courtship. The couple has a daughter named Nysa.
“Ajay is a doting fatherâ€, says Kajol about her hubby dearest.
Also “just because Ajay and Shah Rukh are not close friends, doesn’t mean they are enemiesâ€, said Kajol recently rubbishing the rumours about an alleged tiff between Ajay and Shah Rukh.
Movies like ‘Raincoat’, ‘Yuva’, ‘Omakara’ and ‘Golmaal’ may have placed him at the pinnacle of success today but the ‘family’ man that he his, he doesn’t socialise much and prefers spending quality time with his family instead.
A loving husband, doting father and a fabulous actor… Ajay Devgan’s a complete man. We wish Ajay a very happy birthday. Why don’t you, too?
