Ajay Devgan as Veeru in RGV’s Sholay
Published by ajay devgan May 28th, 2007 in NewsAs Veeru, Ajay Devgan’s biggest challenge in RGV’s Sholay would be to draw the laughs from the audience as readily as Dharmendra did in Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay. Known to be a prankster in real life, comedy in films is an area where Ajay has yet to make his mark.
Going by the promos, the remake has most of the scenes between Veeru and Basanti that provided comic relief in the original thriller.
Dharmendra was recently asked to comment on the remake and this is how he responded in his inimitable no nonsense style.
“Half the war is won with the title Sholay. If you want to do something bigger than Sholay, why the hell are you keeping the name? They should have given it a different name. I still pray that they make a greater film. And more so because my younger brother Jai is in it.”
