Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan making his directorial debut with ‘U Me aur Hum,’ scheduled to release on April 11th, says his maiden project brings out the positivity of relationship between a husband and wife.

Ajay Devgan who is paired opposite his actress wife of nine years Kajol in the film says it was a simple love story about a man who marries a girl he loves and overcomes all hurdles to maintain the relationship.

Q. Why direction?

I had a thought which I felt was beautiful and I worked on the script. I found it positive and relevant in today’s life. I have tried to put forth those beautiful thoughts through humour, emotions and drama. I thought that if it is my thought, then I might be the best person to visualise and portray it.

Q. Did you think you were taking a risk by acting in the film as well?

I did not think about risks. I felt I would suit the character in the movie.

Q. Was Kajol your first choice?

She loved the script when I gave her the idea. She was my first choice because I knew that she would do her best. It is a very difficult role to perform. I think she has done full justice to it.

Q. Was it difficult directing her?

It is always great to direct actors who are brilliant. You can push your scene or write your scene as much as you want to because you know the actors will deliver.

Q. How is Kajol the actress compared to Kajol the wife?

If I answer this question honestly, I will be beaten up. Both are brilliant in their own ways.

Q. Can you tell us about the character you play and the story?

It is a story about being positive and falling in love. No problem in life is big and there is always a solution. And the problems would gradually give way to happiness and laughter.

Q. Acting or directing? How did you combine the two smoothly?

I really don’t know what was more difficult. I think it was a combination of the two because as a director I exactly knew what I wanted from the actor and as an actor I exactly knew what the director wanted.

Q. Who will the film appeal to?

Everybody who has a heart. From a small child to an old person, you just need a heart and some sense of humour.

Q. What about the music?

The music is beautiful. All the songs perfectly blend with story. Every song from my film says what exactly the film has to convey and if you hear the CD, you will exactly know what my film is about.
