The actor was overwhelmed by the wholehearted welcome given by the people of Karachi during the 6th Kara Film Festival.
Director Vishal Bharadwaj , producer Kumar Mangat and Ajay Devgan were in Karachi on Saturday for the screening of their film Omkara . Right from the time their plane landed in Karachi, the trio got a genuine welcome from people there.
The movie, an adaptation of ‘Othello’, was screened to a packed house on Saturday. So overwhelming was the crowd response that a second screening had to be included in the festival’s schedule.
The huge applause Devgan and ‘Omkara’ team got after the screening left them spellbound.
Devgan was so much moved emotionally that he told the crowd: “if you don’t stop giving me this kind of welcome, i will go mad.”
After the film’s screening, there was a press conference in which movie enthusiasts asked questions to the ‘Omkara’ team.
The film eventually won the Best Adapted Screenplay award at the fest.
Another indian film Khosla Ka Ghosla won the Best Original Screenplay.
Mohit Suri’s Woh Lamhe was also screened at the festival.
Mahesh Bhatt , now a regular at the fest, was full of praise for the fest, which, he said, has become an event to reckon with in just its sixth year.
