Karan Johar’s recent film ‘Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna’ received a mixed bag of responses, but did well for itself at the overall box-office front. Karan Johar also produces various films under his production banner Dharma productions and the last film that he produced under his banner was Kaal which starred Ajay Devgan, John Abraham, Vivek Oberoi, Esha Deol and Lara Dutta. The film was directed by Soham who was also supposed to do another film under Karan Johar’s banner, unfortunately now there are rumours that Soham will not be doing the film with Karan’s banner but has opted to do the film with Kumar Mangat who is Ajay Devgan’s business manager.

Sources claim that Soham and Karan Johar have both worked on a script and the film was to be produced under Karan’s banner, the film was to star John Abraham, Kareena Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal. However it is said that Karan Johar wanted to wait till Sanjay Dutt’s final verdict in the 1993 bomb blasts case, but unfortunately Soham was anxious to start his next film. Soham had even wanted to start the film without Sanjay Dutt, but Karan apparently would not hear of the idea as he is very close to Sanjay Dutt. However there were rumours of a showdown between Soham and Karan, after which Soham apparently took the same script to rival Ajay Devgan’s camp. Karan and Shahrukh are known to be best buddies and earlier on there were talks of a cold war between SRK and Ajay. Some reports even state that when Omkara released and received a poor response, Karan was accused of having a hand in it. So there are rumours that Ajay is finally getting a chance to play his cards now!

But the icing on the cake is that supposedly Soham had already begun to hold discussions of his film with Kumar Mangat before he parted ways with Karan. But apparently nobody from the Devgan camp deemed it necessary to inform Karan Johar of this despite the fact that he too was involved in writing the script along with Soham. For his part Kumar Mangat claims “I’ve been in talks with Soham since Kaal, but he said he would do a film with me only after his project with Karan was through. We’ve discussed several projects but nothing has been finalized yet. However neither Soham nor Karan Johar has confirmed that they have indeed parted ways.

Sources also claim that Karan and Soham may have parted ways amicably because Karan is very fond of Soham too and could actually understand Soham’s frustrations over the delay. Nonetheless Karan did not want to go ahead with the film without Sanjay Dutt as he considers him like a brother. Karan is very emotional about those whom he is close to and he was willing to wait no matter how much it costs him. Now in this cut throat industry, that’s what we call true friendship when one supports the other in their time of crisis, just like Karan is supporting Sanju baba.
