Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi is set to begin production of the grand musical “London Dreams” this year and the real surprise of the project is Salman Khan.

Santoshi said: “‘London Dreams’ will come in the middle of the year. So I wouldn’t like to say much about it right now. But yes, Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan have been signed for it. And A.R. Rahman will do the music.”

Known as a versatile actor Ajay Devgan is spinning out one hit comedy film after another and the latest of the series is Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sunday’.

Normally, Ajay is accused of avoiding the media, but we caught him up during the shooting of ‘Sunday’ and discussed a whole lot of things. He was candid as well as casual during the conversation. Here are the excerpts.

Q: Any special reason for accepting the role in ‘Sunday’?

The double National Award winner of the coveted best actor, Ajay Devgan, seems to be going through a rough patch. Post GOLMAAL (2006), most of his projects have failed at the box-office.

Even Anubhav Sinha’s CASH, which took a good initial, sank without a trace. After that RGV KI AAG and super director, Rajkumar Santoshi’s HALLA BOL, failed to get even a reasonable start at the ticket window, before fading out into the oblivion.

Ajay Devgan who went all out roaring about injustice in society through Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol , has now taken a break from roles that require him to yell his lungs out. Devgan is now keen on showing his fans his softer side.

The usually macho Devgan will soon be swinging around with Ayesha Takia in Rohit Shetty’s Sunday which hits the screens in a few weeks from now.

Actor Ajay Devgan’ s Halla Bol got a cold response at the box office. His next release is a comedy flick titled Sunday. Ajay speaks to CNN-IBN about these two releases and his directorial debut, which also stars wife Kajol.

Ajay Devgan’s dual personality

And the versatility of his performances will definitely be reflected, as the roles in both films are in complete contrast to each other! Santoshi’s Halla Bol will see him as an actor turned activist battle political issues and raise a voice over injustice whereas Rohit Shetty’s Sunday will see him play a corrupt cop in a fun filled action thriller film!

Now not many actors are capable of giving excellent performances in two contrasting genres of acting. Watch out for the dark horse called Ajay Devgan, he’s back and how!

Rohit Shetty directed Sunday is all set for release on 25th January. En route to the arrival of film at the screens, producers Kumar Mangat and Sunil Lulla are leaving no stones unturned to make the film as the most prominent release of the month.

To give the film’s publicity further impetus, a promotional music video has been shot which would be on air soon.

Ajay Devgan after giving a spellbinding performance in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol is all geared up with the director to play a double role in a film titled Ashoka.

Ajay agreed to do the film as soon as Raj Kumar Santoshi approached him. Ajay will be playing both the role of father (King Ashoka) and son (Kunala) in the film. Santoshi was convinced that Ajay is an apt choice for the roles and definitely would do justice to them.

Ashoka revolves around the reformation of brutal King Ashoka to a divine body. Raj Kumar Santoshi will be highlighting the relationship between Ashoka and his son and thus, will be giving new dimension to the story altogether.

A blushing Kajol. A mischievous Ajay Devgan. An evergreen romance! The first time ‘Ajay’ saw ‘Pia’, she served him drinks. She affected him more than the alcohol, and he found true love. He was a leading psychiatrist, but she messed up his mind.

The first time ‘Pia’ saw ‘Ajay’, he had too much to drink. She watched him make a fool of himself, and was relieved when he passed out. She was a woman who followed her heart, but despite his claims of true love, she had made up her mind.

The film Halla Bol was premiered in Delhi Tuesday, January 9. The film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi features Ajay Devgan, Vidya Balan and Pankaj Kapoor in lead roles.

Devgan plays Ashfaque, a small time actor, who starts off acting in street plays but goes on to become a flamboyant superstar. His rise to stardom, however, distances him from his loved ones and his values and principles.
