Actor Ajay Devgan’s most awaited film U, Me Aur Hum is almost ready to hit the floor. When filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj and Ajay were working on the title track of the film, Ajay bursts into tears when he heard the title song crooned by Vishal.

Whereas, Vishal on his part was stunned to see Ajay crying. “The song moved my heart and it expresses all the emotions of the film”, said Ajay.

How did it feel being directed by your husband Ajay?

It was an honour and I am proud of the fact that my husband directed me as a heroine. He is one of the best directors I have ever worked with and the experience is going to stay with me for a very long time. He is a director to the core. So far, Devgan’s fortunes haven’t changed this year. Both Sunday and Halla Bol have tanked at the box office, the latter despite being an out and right Devgan film.

It has been some time since we saw a memorable performance from Devgan. Ajay Devgan and Kajol may have been married for years but the two still find their hearts beating for each other.

This is what they convey to each other in the number ‘Dil Dhakda Hai’, the second in the line of promotion for their home production U, ME AUR HUM. After an excellent response that the opening number ‘Jee Le’ has generated, promotion of U, ME AUR HUM has moved on to the next level with the introduction of ‘Dil Dhakda Hai’.

Set on a cruise where Ajay and Kajol meet for the first time and get drunk, ‘Dil Dhakda Hai’ has Adnan Sami and Shreya Ghoshal at the helm, who sung the opening number as well. A rhythmic number with a catchy beat which should help the track cover some distance, this one is yet another winner by composer Vishal Bhardwaj and lyricist Munna Dhiman.

On opening the package for the U Me Aur Hum audio CD, there is a dual panel spread with Kajol [Images] in bright yellow and Ajay Devgan [Images] in bright green, lounging sunglassedly on deckchairs with the sea behind them. It’s a neat, uncluttered visual, not trying too hard but succeeding immensely — and bodes well for Devgan’s directorial debut. And it’s soundtrack.

As first steps go, Devgan does brilliantly. The man gets Vishal Bhardwaj to score the film, a composer completely attuned to the need for mood. Bhardwaj is, as usual, in his element, and applause must also be given to Munna Dhiman for smart, evocative, everyday lyrics. Shah Rukh Khan’s recent announcement in Variety magazine about producing an animated kiddie flick has stirred a hornet’s nest. According to the Ajay Devgan camp, the stories of SRK’s and Kumar Mangat’s animation film, Toonpur Ka Super Hero, are the same!

A source reveals that Ajay’s camp is miffed that Khan is going ahead with a project that is very similar to theirs in terms of ideation and plot. The similarity isn’t just about who the film is catering to, but also the treatment. Both the movies are using state-of-the-art effects and will have a video game feel.

Apparently, Devgan was infuriated when Shah Rukh roped in Anubhav Sinha for the project. “Ajay has been conceiving Toonour Ka Super Hero even before he started work on U Me Aur Hum.
