The scene for Rohit Shetty’s comedy film Golmaal Returns was being shot at Film City recently. The scene involved actors Ajay Devgan, Shreyas Talpade and Anjana Sukhani. Anjana had a funny dialogue which she had to say with a serious expression.

Priyan, who made an indelible contribution to Akshay Kumar’s career, courtesy films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag and Bhool Bhulaiya, will direct Ajay in producer Kumar Mangat’s (Omkara, No Smoking, Sunday, One, Two, Three) next venture. The trend of stars from tinsel town of Mumbai making a beeline for Television continues! The latest Bollywood heartthrobs to make a foray on the small screen are the “brooding” star Ajay Devgan and the bubbly Kajol.

Ajay and Kajol, along with yesteryear’s actress Tanuja (Kajol’s mother), are being seen on television as judges of a unique reality show ‘Rock N Roll Family’, a family dance show which has three generations of a family displaying their dancing prowess in the programme, vying with 11 other families for the title of ‘Rock N Roll Family’.

To be aired on Fridays at 10 pm, ‘Rock N Roll Family’, which began airing on Zee TV from Friday, will have the 12 families performing on different themes before Ajay, Kajol and Tanuja.

Of late, we’ve noticed that Ajay Devgan is the ‘committed’ and ‘sucker for time’ types. Only recently he was to be at a suburban hotel in Andheri (East) at a particular time, when his car broke down in Juhu galli.

Ajay insisted that he didn’t have time to waste and simply halted a rick-shaw, hopped in and made it to the event – to promote U, Me Aur Hum , we’re sure — on the dot. About the rickshawwala’s reaction? He was stunned, surprised, speechless but only too happy!

As the unique dance reality show spanning 3 generations, Rock N Roll Family kicks-off this weekend, Ajay Devgan, one of the Jury members for the contest took a silent oath of not touching his cigarette pack for one full day! So what caused this sudden change in the actor?

Well, the credit goes to one participating family, the Jain Family comprising of Rohit and Tanvi Jain who have come down all the way from Ghaziabad! It so happened that the family performed on the very happening theme – ‘Smoking is Injurious to Health’, and spread across the message so very nicely that Ajay Devgan was very much impressed and decided to stay away from cigarettes, well not forever, but for just ‘one’ day, as a mark of respect for their performance.

Payaol Patel, Creative Head confirms the incident as she says, “Yes it is true. The family from Ghaziabad danced on the song, ‘Beedi Jalaile’ from the film Omkara, and the song was choreographed in such a way that it upheld the message that ‘Smoking is Injurious to health’. A minute’s break during the shoot means reaching out for the sticks. Devgan, who turns director with U Me Aur Hum, has repeatedly maintained that when it comes to smoking, no one can tell him anything.

It was a huge set in Filmistan. Malls, restaurants and fancy salons were made to order to give a very Goan feel to the ambience. Expensive cars and hi-tech mean machines were parked alongside the bricked pavement. Credit of the magnanimity of it all ought to be given to art director Naren Raodekar.

And then appeared the cowgirls – Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora – and the cowboys – Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade. While Bebo wore a mini-skirt, white shirt, hat and boots, Amu was more covered.

The song that was being shot was titled Tha Karke , and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. The music of this film has been composed by Pritam. Director Rohit Shetty informed us, “We are shooting here till March 5. Then we go to South Africa in April to shoot one more song. The film will see a July-August release.
