Sunday- Title Song – HQ

Cast: Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Ayesha Takia, Irrfan Khan, Anjana Sukhani, Mukesh Tiwari, Tusshar Kapoor.

After the encouraging response to his directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum, Ajay Devgan is thinking of directing an action flick next.

“I’ve two subjects ready and I may decide to do either one, depending on what I feel right. After a very serious subject, I may decide to do a lighter film,” Ajay said.

“In fact, I’m seriously thinking of doing an actioner. If I do, it’d be very different from the stunts that we see in other films. But there definitely will be an undercurrent of a serious social message through the film for sure,” he added. Continue reading ‘Ajay Devgan to direct action flick’

In fact, just when their film U, Me Aur Hum saw light of day, Kads’ father Shomu Mukherjee passed away. “The movie has fared well, but our family is going through a sad moment,” Ajay is heard to have said. The couple who has got some good reviews for their performance, hasn’t had the time or the spirit to celebrate the success of their film, and is just providing strength to the other to get over this unfortunate incident. Chalte Chalte yunhi koi mil gaya tha, yunhi koi (while walking, while venturing along, I met someone and my life has stood still ever since) … that classic duet from the 1972 movie Pakeezah provides one of the stand-out scenes in this film, reflecting as it does on the nature of relation- ships.

It’s just one of many scenes that stick in the mem- ory, which is ironic considering that this is a movie about the debilitating effects of memory loss.

Before I forget, allow me to recall some others. Like the exchange between the sexes when one of the guys boldly remarks that “Indian women are like cheap liquor, always losing control”. Back comes the magni- ficent riposte by his other half that an Indian man is like a mouse, “always looking for a hole”! Ajay, Kajol aur hum

Ladies and gentlemen, Mrs and Mr Devgan:
Kajol and Ajay Devgan are a famously reclusive couple, so their visit to Delhi for the premiere of their film U, Me Aur Hum was an opportunity for fans to interact with them. But the real cool interaction was between the couple themselves.

Ajay: I wanted to make a simple commercial film with no pseudo intellectual meaning. It’s just a movie where you will get your tickets’ worth and go back home. It’s a romantic film about three couples – one who is unhappily married, another who is happily unmarried, and Kajol and I, who fall in love and then face a lot of difficulties, yet stay together.

I couldn’t think of anyone but her who would fit the bill. Kajol is a very fine actress and I’m sure everyone will agree. When I have her, why would I want anyone else to do the role? Continue reading ‘Ajay, Kajol aur hum’

Actor Ajay Devgana and actor-wife Kajol were in New Delhi on April 5, for a special screening of Ajay’s directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum .

New Delhi: Ajay and Kajol Devgan return to the big screen together after a long gap of eight years with U Me Aur Hum. In a candid interview with CNN-IBN’s Sushant Mehta the couple discuss Kajol’s temper, Ajay’s dance movies and parenting.

Sushant Mehta: Ajay and Kajol Devgan , well what can I say about them they are brilliant actors and mega stars Ajay tell me how was it directing your wife, I’ve heard she has a little bit of a temper?

Kajol is a director’s delight, says Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan of his talented wife whom he has cast in his directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum.

“Very few actresses can perform like her. Doesn’t every director want to work with Kajol?” Ajay told IANS.

“Working with her is a delight. When a writer writes his book, he uses words to express himself and when a director makes a film, actors like her help convey the message rightly,” added Devgan, who was in the capital Saturday to promote his upcoming film.

The actor denies he would only select Kajol for his future projects.

“Taking her in my first film doesn’t mean that I would only work with her. Casting depends on who suits the role most, and for this character she fitted the bill.”

Apart from Ajay and Kajol, the movie also stars Divya Dutta, Karan Khanna, Isha Sharvani and Sumeet Raghavan. It narrates the story of three couples and how the successful marriage of one couple helps mend another’s relationship and how the third is urged to tie the knot.

“I have not tried to make a pseudo intellectual film, instead a commercial one. U, Me Aur Hum is about love, life and relationships. The aim is that people must come out of the theatre with a smile and feel good,” the national award winner said.

Ajay believes directing a film and acting in it is not difficult.

“Doing two things at a time requires a lot of hard work but once you are clear about what you want to do it is not that difficult. “Moreover, direction wasn’t a big change for me. I started my career as a director. I used to make small films and would do everything except acting in them. I always wanted to direct a full-length film,” he said.

“It all started with a thought that gradually took shape. Only when a second thought comes along will I roll out my next film.” Commenting on whether his role in the film is a reflection of his personal life, he said: “No, there are no similarities.”

“For instance, in the film the character falls in love at first sight but nothing like this has ever happened to me in real life. However, I believe in what the character believes in.” Continue reading ‘Very few can perform like Kajol: Ajay Devgan’
