So he actually requested Ajay to either hold on for a few more days till the Lok Sabha elections were over, or he even volunteered to leave the film. Ajay Devagan was flabbergasted to find out in the sets of London Dreams that an overcoat that he was supposed to wear was not fitting him properly. Apparently, the film’s director Vipul Shah bought the overcoat without discussing with Ajay’s costume designer Ana Singh thinking it would suit him. Ajay Devgan celebrated his 40th birthday with the resolution to direct a new project- his second after U, Me Aur Hum.

“It will be a dark comic thriller. And no, there will be no Kajol in it. For those who want to see us together, there’s the animation film ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero‘,” Ajay, who celebrated his 40th birthday Thursday, told a news agency. Ajay admits the animation film is taking longer than expected.

But he does not blame it on the recession.. “Animation is a very time-taking process. It needs lots of patience,” said Ajay. Life at 40 for Ajay means more work.

“‘All the Best’, the comedy directed by Rohit Shetty that I’m producing, is currently being shot. So I was busy shooting that. For me there’s no life as satisfying as work and family. “Is 40 really a special age to be? I don’t feel anything special. It’s like any other day. I shot the entire day. No celebrations, nothing that I don’t do normally,” he said.

Nudge him a little more and Ajay admits there was a family get together. “My entire family, my parents, sister, brother-in-law, my wife and daughter (Nysa) were all together for a dinner. But that’s something I do every time I get the chance. Yes, there was a cake. But I didn’t cut it. My daughter did.”

Any new promises to keep at 40? “None! I feel physically and creatively fitter at 40 than I did at 30. The only new resolution is to devote more time to my blog. It has been renovated. I had been neglecting it. But now I intend to devote time regularly to it. Otherwise everything is the same. I still refuse to work with those I don’t like.”

The good news for those who want to see the husband and wife pair up on screen is that their animation film Toonpur Ka Superhero will be releasing sooner than expected.
